Marking a new milestone in its history, the
Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) –
College of Law notched a spot in the top 10 placers
of 2019 Bar Exams, ending its nearly two-decade
placement drought in bar examinations since its
establishment in 2001.

Atty. Jun Dexter Rojas ranked ninth place with an
average of 87.5765 percent, according to the
Supreme Court. Rojas led the list of 38 passers
out of 60 examinees from PUP.
“Like a humbled and repentant son, to a father who loved me unconditionally, I offer you this gift, a fruit not just by blood, sweat, and tears but also those who I hold close to my heart,” Rojas said in his gratitude post on Facebook.

The college logged 63.33 percent passing rate in the recently concluded bar examinations. For this milestone, the Legal Education Board (LEB) named the PUP as the fourth top performing law school in the Philippines among those with fewer than 63 examinees.
The 2019 Bar Exams were held last November 2019 at the University of Santo Tomas where 8,245 law school graduates took part, while results were released in late April 2020 where 2,103 passed for a 27.36 percent passing rate.

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines – College of Communication has made another breakthrough with three of its alumni passing the 2019 Bar Exams. The passers are graduates of Journalism, Broadcast Communication, and Advertising.
Atty. Rochelle Marie Sarosa, a journalism alumna from Batch 2012, finished her law studies at the Arellano University School of Law. In preparation for the Bar Exams, Sarosa shared how she prepared herself mentally, emotionally, physically and financially. She made sure that she was 100% ready for the bar, not only in terms of knowledge.

“It is important to surround yourself with trusted bar buddies, whom you can share anything during the preparation and after taking the bar exam,” she said.
When she was asked about her message to aspiring PUPian law takers, she said: “Never stop dreaming, but couple it with action and dedication. Never think that you know a lot of things, little knowledge is very dangerous. I was the first editor in chief of ICommunicate, so my writing skill gave me an advantage in formulating my answer for the bar questions.”

Meanwhile, the other two COC alumni Bar passers are graduates from the Department of Broadcast Communication, and Advertising and Public Relations. An alumna from Advertising Batch 2012, Atty. Joanna Ursula Bigornia completed her law studies at the University of East - College of Law. While, Atty. Clarrise Accad is a Broadcasting alumna Batch 2013 who took her law school at the San Beda University - College of Law.
